Hello Divinity Family,
The Executive Committee of the Council, with input given by the Reopening Subcommittee, made the decision this week to return to all online worship for at least a few weeks, beginning this Sunday (11/22), in response to rapidly spiking COVID-19 numbers in our area, and in an effort to minimize risk and keep folks as safe and healthy as possible. We’ll revisit the decision in mid-December and will make a call on extending online worship or returning to in-person worship based on numbers at that point, with the earliest anticipated return to in-person worship on Sunday, December 20.
We’re certainly sad to have to make this decision, especially as it may potentially impact Christmas Eve worship opportunities (please refer to your recent mailing packet for the plans in place for now), but we felt it was necessary and prudent for the sake of caring for our community and our neighbors. The worship format will be similar to our online worship prior to our re-opening, with videos pre-recorded and shared on our YouTube, Website, and Facebook pages by Sunday morning, which you can connect with anytime as your schedule permits. Zoom Confirmation and Church School will continue as scheduled.
As a means of sharing in the Advent season together and staying connected as a community, we will also offer a Midweek Fellowship & Devotional Zoom gathering on the first three Wednesday evenings in December (12/2,9,16). We’ll send out details once they’re finalized, please let me know if you might be interested in participating (certainly don’t need to commit to attending all of them) so I can adequately prepare resources and discussion topics. Thanks!
Stay strong and be of good courage. God is with us.
-Pr. Chris
